What I like about Naruto is that the writers always come up with something new and interesting. Recently, I was going through wiki of Naruto where I found that most of the characters and their names have references to the Japanese mythology.
The thing which amazed me was the Power of Mangekyo Sharingan. The power of Sharingan, the eyes possessed by the almost extinct clan of Uchihas(Sasuke Uchiha being the anti hero of the series), is related to the Mythology. There is ancient Myth that when Izanagi a deity, comes out of underworld, he washes his face which gives birth to 3 gods – Amaterasu (the Sun goddess) from his left eye, Tsukuyomi(the moon god) from his right eye and Susanoo (storm god)from his nose. Now, in Naruto, the possessor of Mangekyo Sharingan receives these 3 gods’ power – Tsukoyomi, a genjutsu where the victim is stuck in an imaginary world in night under the moon, Amaterasu – highest form of fire which makes it burn anything, and Susanu – creates a spiritual being which protects the possessor of sharingan. In fact, this doesn’t end here, Itachi Uchiha kills Orochimaru, who is in his eight Snake form, which is similar to the way, Susanu, the storm god, used his sword to behead eight headed snake in japanese myths.
I wish there would be Animation serial in India also, which is based on Indian Mythology. There is so much content here!!! Right na???
