Life @ NITIE: Day 75

15 more days to go for the exam and the submissions deadlines have started pouring in. After 75 days in NITIE I can say that I have settled down quite well here. I am still not bored of the mess food and have in fact decided to quit drinking Tea. Progress in the various subjects has been based on my interest. So even though we have made 3 PPTs on marketing, I still don’t have clue about the 5Cs and 4Ps. On the other hand, with hardly any practice of Business Stats, I still like the subjects (This seems to me like the repeat of Mechanics in FE where everyone hated it and I liked it). Ops, POM, IE are also going along nicely. I have had nice experience during Communication Skills lectures with our Prof encouraging everyone to interact more with the class asking people to take initiative to improve the public speaking skills. Last but not the least, it turned out to be boon that our previous Eco Prof left the institute for IIT Indore, as the new teacher much faster than her and much more interactive. I liked the way he conducted a game of passing pens from one end of a line to another to explain the “Law of Diminishing Returns”. That’s it for now. I would have to start working on our Marketing Report, otherwise Basu and Simran would kill me…

My favorite Dialogue : Vegeta's Respect

I wanted to publish this since long time, but always postponed it, waiting for the right time. Well actually it is not a dialogue, since only one person is speaking.  This dialogue is from my favorite Cartoon serial DragonballZ and is spoken by my favorite character Vegeta . The scene is in the climax of the serial, in one of the final episodes. To give you an idea why I like it, let me give you some idea about DragonballZ . The characters Goku and Vegeta are one of the most important characters in the series. Goku, the protagonist, who is actually an alien from a planet called Vegeta and is one of the last of his race Saiyan . But unlike the Saiyans who are naturally aggressive, fight-loving, brutal, strongest warriors in the world, he is very calm, naive. He hates to be a Saiyan, when he realizes that he belongs to such a killing race. According to his blood line and roots on planet Vegeta, he is a third grade soldier in the Saiyan Army. On the contrary, Vegeta is the Prince o...

Sawai Ekankika’ 2013

So this year I completed a hat trick of watching the finals of Sawai . Like the previous 2 occasions, this too was a great experience. Most of the plays were good and the overall performance level was better than that of the 2012 finals. Most of the plays were based social issues like parenting, cynicism among the middle class, etc. Unlike the previous finals, not a single one was of romantic/love genre. Here is the list of finalists- Nat S. M. R. T. We missed this one as we were late. But Viraj's father told us, this was similar to the play " Natasamrat " but a modern version. Emotional Atyachar This was a story of an employee in an e-CRM firm which is hired by clients so that someone can communicate with their family. These clients are too "busy" with their work that they don't have time to speak with their wife/kids/parents. The agent/employee E26 slowly starts getting emotionally attached with his clients' families. Finally, when he is about t...
