श्रीयुत गंगाधर टिपरे

The Marathi serial with above name is one of my most favorite TV serials. It showed the life of typical Marathi middle class family. I could see every character in the serial in the people around me. Aaba, Shekhar, Shyamala, Shrilesh aka Shirya and Shalaka were five main characters of the series. There was not a single episode which I could not relate to my own life. Friday night 9.30 slot was reserved for only one thing – “श्रीयुत गंगाधर टिपरे”. Apart from “405 आनंदवन” not many Marathi comedy serials came close Tipre. Some of the typical lines of the characters were - श्यामला – “अग बाई!" आबा – “अरे कर्मा” शेखर – (मोठ्याने) “काय??” श्रीलेश/शलाका – “आई झोपू दे ना" I remember the last episode of "Tipre” where Kedar Shinde (Director) explained why he wanted to end the serial. He did not want people to come to him and tell him, “कधी थांबणार?”, instead he wanted people to ask him, “का थांबलात?”. Recently, I got a link of online episodes of Tipre from my fri

Hmmm

While listening to “Main Hoon Hero” song from Ram Lakhan I wanted to check the lead singer along with Amit Kumar. I not only found out that it was Mohd. Aziz, but also found that the female singer was Alisha Chinoy. Well, film dates back 1989. I didn’t know Alisha Chinoy was so old singer!!!

Lame Period for Blogs?

Is this a lame period for blogs, especially in my friend circle? Most of the people I have blog rolled haven’t blogged for ages or have been blogging once or twice in a quarter. What’s wrong with everyone (including me)?

Sherlock Holmes

I have started reading stories of Sherlock Homes recently. I had never read any of the stories before. In fact, it was only after I watched the movie on Sherlock Homes, that my interest in the character increased. Till that time, the only thing I knew was - “Elementary my dear Watson!”. The funny thing is, I have read 3 stories of the books and haven’t encountered this term anywhere :D It is undoubtedly one of the greatest detective stories I have read. I completed the “Hound of Baskerville” today which is supposed be the best “Sherlock Homes” story. In all 3 stories which I have read, I observed that they were much different than any detective novel or serial which I had seen. I mean usually in those stories the characters are never explained too much. They might peculiar way of behaving but no one is so distinct as Homes. I admire “The Science of Deduction” he talks about (I remember using a similar thing with a blog friend of mine). I also liked the role of Dr. Watson, especially

Life @ NITIE: Day 360

Actually the title is a little deceptive. I am writing this post from my home. But life in NITIE is going to restart soon. I have my Summer Project Presentation scheduled on Monday at 9.30 am. Next 6 months are going to be The NITIE: Reloaded !!!

Getting Lazy

Damn!! I am really fed up of my laziness. Lazy of doing office work, lazy of doing research work, lazy of closing a bank account even though I have been losing Rs. 200 a month, lazy of opening an account in another bank, lazy of meeting old office friends, lazy of getting up (well this one is true if you compare it with the way I used to get up earlier.. एकदा आईने हाक मारली की मी उठायचो.. आणि आता, “हां ग आई, पाच मिनिटांनी उठतो”), lazy of writing blog, lazy of registering a domain for myself and my friend, lazy of inquiring in academics section about my scholarship, lazy to register for NCFM (its been 4 months), lazy to postpone the lectures (sorry my dear classmates), lazy to complete assignment, lazy to finish my summer project….. Oooffff…. I should be the Lucky Guy and not the Lazy Guy. Its time to buckle up and get going. As my dad always says, “Time once gone, never comes back”. Need to make the most of whatever first quarter of life, I am left with :)
