I am back to using yahoo messenger. Well, one really can’t say “use” as there is hardly anyone from online on yahoo these days. Just wanted to see how much it has actually changed given what Priyanka told me about it being one of the best free messenger available. I am not sure if it is the best thing out there, but I will always love the audibles especially the Marathi ones (“डोक्यात जाउ नको रे", “गावात नवीन पाखरू आलं वाटतं” and “आता गं बया”)

Mozilla has launched “The Home Tab" challenge. It has entered into its 2nd round of voting. It basically tries to find the interesting uses of Home tab in Firefox. People have submitted really cool ideas here.      I can’t believe this. My name on gnome website!!! Last year, I decided to take part in gnome translation project, I worked with Sandeep Shedmake (who is the person in charge of Marathi Translation) on Bug Buddy. I did my best in the 1 month I worked, because afterwards I had to give time to office work and CAT stuff. All in all, it was nice experience working on it.      Today, I tried searching my name on Google. If there is one thing I miss the most on Linux, then it has to be Windows Live Writer. It is an awesome blogging tool. You can select all the fonts on your machine. Insert images from your PC. Add tables. Add videos. And so many other things. You can also check  it out here .

Well, well, well what you know? Google India has come up with SMS Channels. The product has great similarities with our own MyToday MOBS and Webaroo’s SMSGupshup. You can create an SMS channel which is a way of sending group SMSs. I guess the specialty of Google has always been the ease and simplicity of user interfaces. The same thing continues here also. You can create your own SMS channel with various options. You can use it to send RSS feeds or send alerts about your blog or alerts about your or send Google news alerts for particular keywords or send alerts about the emails sent on a Google group or the simplest of them all – send a “free” group SMS from the web site. If I have to compare the 3 services, two of which I have already worked on, there is one big Similarity in all. “DELAYS”!!!! I have turned into a big fan of Gnome. I am the only one in my office who is using gnome. Every one else uses KDE. The user interface of KDE really sucks man. Gnome is more closer to Windows in terms of user experience. Though many of the KDE apps are more advanced than their counter parts in gnome, I still feel that Gnome has enough functinalities to be able fulfill my requirement. After the launch of Banshee I have stopped using Amarok. Not that it is better than Amarok, but its certainly better than that Rhythmbox. Sexiest thing about Gnome is its Termianl. I just hated using Konsole in my early days in office, I wanted Gnome Terminal. Its another story how I got Gnom installed on my system I wanted to enable compiz on my PC which has an old motherboard with no AGP. It broke down KDE and I could use my desktop GUI. So finally I had to call Chandan and installed Gnome. Well, not that I learned from this mistake. I faced the same problem in Gnome also when enabled XGL. Thankf...

Hello everyone. For last 2 months I have been trying to write a code for Feed Reader. This Feed Reader will be a desktop reader. Currently this reader is in very basic level of development. You must have IE7 installed on your PC to make use of it. The reason for this is that my code makes use of Microsoft RSS Framework. You can download the software from following link and test it. I was surprised today after I found that Yahoo had already launched a web messenger similar to Gtalk web gadget. As yahoo messenger has more capabilities than Gtalk, the same is the case with the web gadgets. You can even SMS to your friend via yahoo messenger (both desktop client and web client). Its fierce battle between the 2 software giants where it is difficult to say who will be the winner. Microsoft has recently published a set of questions which they think the "Enterprises" should ask themselves before shifting to Google.
