Different Time Zones For India?

http://www.indianexpress.com/news/on-the-same-watch/571689/ I remember this issue coming up during one of the test matches in Kolkata when the match starting at 9.30 would mean losing some daylight. It would usually end early because of lack of day light.

IIM B- Numero Uno

My dear old friend Sidscope has been chosen to represent XLRI in the Numero Uno competition at IIM B. All the best to him and our very own NITIE candidate Tejas Deoras who is also my classmate in NITIE :) Let the best person win!!!

Prank – I

It all started when my dear friend Abhiram sent a mail to vjcomps about “Tying A Knot”. It was a prank mail with a photo showing the procedure of how to Tie a tie (It helped me to learn the technique). I thought I might also try to fool some of my friends like that. But damn!! Except for one person no one replied though the mail backfired on me when Ayush forwarded the mail to the whole section C of NITIE. Some people in my class actually believed it and came to my room running :) While telling this to Susmit, we got an idea, to use a similar prank on my school friends. Since I had already sent the mail, I could not be the person being “engaged”. Susmit took that task :) We started making a plan about how to convince people that he is actually getting engaged. We wanted to the news to be spread but at the pace which we wanted. Finally we came up with a strategy where I was going to have a mail conversation with Susmit where he will confess that he is getting engaged and I will then f

Dheere Dheere…

Life seems to have become a little slower nowadays. I am not saying it is dull but the pace has slowed down a bit. And yea I am not really complaining. I was just wondering what is the reason- Is it because of the rapid pace during Module 2 exams ( 6 papers in 3 days).. Or is it the Module 3 is actually so much chilled out in NITIE.. Or is it because I am lazy enough not to participate in any case study competition Or may be because I am not writing any certification exam Or is it the effect of my chat with 2 of my best friends where we concluded that we are trying to be part of the rat race started when we went to college. We want to do things because others are doing it because if you don’t do it you feel that you will remain behind. You forget about the basic enjoyments, going for “building the future” but “forgetting the present”. Ahh, I have also started becoming philosopher it seems :)

Naruto Manga & Anime

There they go again!!! We are again forced by the animators of Naruto to watch few more filler episodes so that Anime does not catch up with Manga series. The fight between Sasuke and Killer Bee had just ended and I was eagerly waiting for the Naruto-Pain battle. But that would have meant getting too close Manga storyline. There in the Manga series, writers remind me of Indian Television soaps like “Kyonki …”. They have their own way dragging the fights from one chapter to another. Before taking 2 weeks break for new years they show Itachi appearing at the end of the final chapter of the year. Everyone is excited as to how Itchi resurrects himself from the dead. And it turns out that he was just an illusion created by Sasuke to distract Danzo. Anyway, the “Izanagi” thing was something new that has come up in the series and next week’s issue will be interesting with finale of fight between Sasuke and Danzo.

So true…

(Now totally lost in what he said) (हशा)….

Bye Bye Baddie Court

The badminton court in NITIE is being demolished, where a new hostel will be built in next few years to take care of the increase in the intake. This was the place where we all gathered during Groove ‘09, where we had our first batch meet, where we performed for TOPA, where we had our Mandi meet, where we were scolded by PlaceCom 15 for being lazy, careless, where we organized DENOVO ‘09, where we had our fresher's party, where we gave Farewell party to our Seniors. That place is no more part of NITIE, but it will always be part of our memory…

Module 2

Let me talk about the teachers and the subjects we had in the previous Trimester. We had 8 subjects. Which were- Marketing Management   – II : Dr. Neeraj Pandey took this subject and was decent in teaching us the fundas of B2B Marketing. What I like about his teaching style is his case studies. Due to time constraint he could give us only 3 cases but the way these cases were discussed by every group was amazing. I liked this subject more than MM –I, even though we had the award winning Prof. Ranjan Chaudhari for MM –I. Organizational Behavior : Whenever we will talk about case studies, we would think of OB. Dr. Sumi Jha gave us an opportunity to boast in front of other sections about the number of case studies we got for OB in the whole Mod. At least one case study per week was the norm here. Again I liked this one more than CS in previous mod. Operations Research : One of the easiest but still the toughest subjects of the Mod. The kind of syllabus we had, anyone would say

Life @ NITIE: Day 209

It was day 2 of module 3 and we already had our first free lecture. After seeing the timetable, I realize now, why my seniors kept telling me that Mod 3 the most chilled out mod of NITIE. On all five days we don’t have more than 3 lectures. Teachers on the first 2 days were good. Good as in, they seem to have knowledge and experience of the subject. Most teachers of course at this stage of their life can be a bit boring :) Attendance was 18 and 22 for the first 2 days respectively(out of 51 students). People would start coming from tomorrow with most of them coming on Sunday. Tomorrow I have my first elective which I selected myself – we were never allowed to select the electives in VJTI, they were thrust on us by the computer department!!!

Natrang

I seriously don’t remember the last time I watched a Marathi movie in a theater, so according to my memory this was the first time I saw a Marathi Movie in a theater. And where?? The center point of recent controversy, Bharatmata, whose owners have been asked by NTC to vacate the place. Well, I will discuss that point in another post. Now, let us talk about the movie. I must admit it was a pleasure to watch Natrang in Bharatmata. The theater is located in central Mumbai near Lalbaug, which was dominated by Marathi mill workers in the yesteryears. Viraj had gone to PVR Lower Parel to buy the tickets. But since it would have cost us Rs. 150 each, I felt that it was too costly and asked Viraj to watch the movie in some other theater or on some other day. Since, Bharatmata was the nearest theater he decided to go there. I also left from home to join him. When I went there, there was a huge line for ticket. I didn’t tell Viraj but I had just 30 bucks in my wallet at that time, but what y

What a win!!!

Just saw the Aussies beating Pakistan in a test match. Australia were bowled out for a paltry 126 and conceded a deficit of 206. They were 260 odd for 8 and it looked certain they were on the verge of losing a home test against Pak after 14 years. But an amazing century by Hussy (with a help from Kamran Akmal who dropped him thrice in a day) who pushed the score to 381 along with Siddle and Bollinger. And then an all round performance by their bowlers brought them an unlikely victory. Congratulations to the Aussies!!!
