Netcore Visit

Honestly, why do we visit our old office? I think it is basically the old people whom we want to meet. The place is actually irrelevant for us if those same people have also left it. Something of that sort is happening with me and Netcore. Many of people with whom I had worked during my stay at Nectore have left/ are leaving. So I guess after a while it is going to feel – “अरे कहा आ गया मै?” To talk about the visit, I met so many old colleagues. It was great to talk with them- I met most of them after a year. Saw Nithya’s engagement pics, it is funny how people are asked to pose on such occasions It was difficult to believe that Roshan had left Netcore, he was kind of one of the pillars of the company. I hope Netcore makes it big with its new service mytoday.com

Last day @ Netcore

So it is over. After 16 months in Netcore, it feels sad to leave my friends. But then as Purwa said, "You leave office, you don't leave friends!!!" To be honest the day started as a normal day. I was trying my best not feel any different about the last day. Of course, for everything I did that day was termed as "last something” in Netcore. So there was last "Lunch", "Tea Time", "Photo session", "CCD", etc. I was wearing the shirt given by friends in Netcore. I was really overwhelmed to know how much my friends love and respect me. Being last day in office I didn't have any work as such, but it is a little difficult for a person like me to just sit like that. I baked up all important data on Ashish and Anand's PC, got an Ubuntu DVD to be installed on my home Laptop. Meanwhile, I got calls from QA Bangalore team, Prashant, Vijay, Arun and Mahesh all for 4 different reasons related to QA. Then attended my last T...

MyToday Feed

It was a pleasant surprise when I got a message from my blog SMS feed of MyToday . The last time I got an SMS from my feed was when I first time subscribed to it, 8 months ago. In fact, today I also received an SMS for the SMS feed which I created for Nik's Blog comments. It seems our DM output has increased a lot :) In case, your are wondering what I am talking about, you would be happy to know that our company provides users to subscribe to RSS fees via SMSes . So whenever the blog/site is updated, you will (ideally, every time blog is updated) receive an SMS. This SMS will contain the title of the post and around 50-60 words of the post. The SMS will finally contain a URL on the mytoday site which contains a image-removed, mobile friendly version of your blog post. For example, here is the mobile friendly version of my previous post. You can do the same. Just login to mytoday . com Go to "Feeds" -> "Manage Feeds" -> "SMS". Here, you will...

MyToday

Today, I would like to talk about my company. Most of my friends don't know much about my company. So it will be helpful for them to understand my work. I wont go into the history of the company, you can as well search Netcore on Google for that. It is basically into 2 major fields: Mail and mobile related services. I am working on the later part of it, so I will talk about the same service. In the mobile part also we have some variety. It includes the mobile portal (mytoday.com), the group SMS service(MOBs), SMS chat service, a platform for SMS competitions, polls and the most important of all, SMS dailies. Our site, mytoday.com is particularly designed for GPRS viewing and hence you might feel a bit weird when you will visit the site. A site without flash, even not many many colors, black white in appearance in the days on Web 2.0 is strange. But as I said the site is mainly designed for mobile viewing. Due to lack of flash content, the site loads very fast. This is very impor...

My First Release

For past 1 month I was working on a web site and last week we were successful in upgrading that site. The link is http://mytoday.com/ If you view it via Desktop, you may call it ugly. It doesn't have the decorations and flash of other web sites. The reason for such site is that the site is designed for mobile browsers specially. If you have a mobile with a GPRS connection then any time, anywhere you will be able to visit our web site which eats just a few KB and takes very less time to load. It has got its own live cricket score along with a line of commentary. There is a news section, bollywood section. You submit your reviews about the movies also. My work on the web site has been very limited but I have learnt a lot while working on the site. I will bringing more updates on the web site as and when I am allowed to by the company. Bye for now, have a look at the site... from your mobiles of course...
