Sunday Morning

These Sunday mornings have changed so much since my childhood. In terms of fun, studies and … TV shows. I miss those Sunday special TV shows so much!! First thing my brother and I used to do after getting up on Sundays was get hold of the Remote and switch on the TV. We have seen Shree Krishna, The Real Ghost Busters on Sony, Captain Vyom, Shaktiman (yea I have seen it for a while), other mythological stuff and of course more cartoons. We even used to have some heavy breakfasts in the morning which is when I had gained some weight. And yea how can I forget those constant exams. First it was Patawardhan Test series, then Agrawal Classes, Prasanna-Dwiwedi-Vargesse Trio and till recently AIM/SIM-CATs. These days when I get up on Sunday morning, there is no special feeling. Ohh.. I miss those Sundays :(

Finally Back to Home

After 22 days I come back home!!! Last 1 month has been pretty stressful for me. Being the CR of the class isn't an easy job to do. But honestly I am not complaining, after all this is an experience in itself. I was never someone who likes speak with people often. Worst part of being a CR is that there will always be some people who are not happy with your work. And people's expectation are always increasing. As our former CR told me, it is a thankless job .      As I said I am not complaining, because I want to learn how to manage people, how to manage their expectations, how to control my emotions in stressful situation, and for that matter how to manage stress. There were times when I was really frustrated, felt alone. Yea, I did make some mistakes. I wasn't perfect, but I tried my level best. I hope people understand the same.      Anyway, post exam was not that happy-happy as well. On 21st, after my exam got over, I didn't go out for dinner with anyone, had

Last day at Netcore (I along with Nithya and Purwa)

Do we look like twins???

Whenever my friends meet my brother, they always ask me whether we are twins. This happened last week when he had come to NITIE. Do you also feel the same?

What an innings!!!

Sehwag’s knock against the Sri Lankan was absolutely magnificent. Poor Sehwag always had to face the criticism of being a one day player with no foot movement. I remember how much hue and try was there when he was sent as an opener. But the man has proved himself more than once that he is probably the best Indian opener since Sunil Gavaskar. He aslways reminds one quote- You should be able to give people what they want and still surprise them…

Updates

With results of 2 subjects to go my CGPA is at 9.27 :) My family had come today to NITIE to meet me. I won’t be going home before my exam is over whereas in the mean while they will be going to our country place, Vareri in Devgad, Sindhudurg. My mother always wanted to see my college. I could not fulfil her wish when I was in Ruparel or VJTI. This time though she managed to come with my father and Bunty. Great feeling!!! My Module 2 exam’s tentative timetable is out. 5 days 8 papers with one Sunday. 2 papers on each working day!!! Now that’s what I call MBA’s destiny. My blog has been listed on NITIE site as regular NITIE blogger :-) Even though I scored 9/15 in OB mid term, Organizational Behaviour is one subject whose practicality I can see every moment in my life. Being the CR such moments occur more often than I could have ever imagined. My Chikitsak friends have made a plan for 31st Dec to go to Matheran. Hopefully this will work out properly. With score

Life @ NITIE: Day 161

Today we had VP election in our college. Yash Agrawal from our section C won the election by close margin. This was the first time I encountered elections in college life. We used to have elections in school days but this was different. It was difficult for me to decide. All the candidates had more or less same agenda and were able enough to carry out the job of VP. I had to make a choice between 2 friends of mine and it was difficult to do so. Last few days I realized what is to be a true manager and a key decision maker. I congratulate Yash for his victory and wish him best luck for his tenure as a VP.

Tough Day…

I seriously can’t believe that today was a Sunday. I had lecture in the morning at 9.30am. Economics has always been my favourite subject, but still it was little odd to be the only class in the college to be attending lectures on Sunday (the infamous Section C). (Un)Fortunately Software Engineering lecture got cancelled. That means few more lectures on coming weekends. These days my weekend starts and ends on Monday itself!!! Post Eco lecture I thought I will get enough time to study Macro economics and Procurement, but " main to thehara section C ka CR ”. Except for a small chat with my friend, it was all work for the class, solving their queries and collecting surveys, reviews, answering Profs phone calls. Kya bataoon!!! Abhi tak dinner nahi kiya :( PS- In all this chaos a good news- I got A+ in Business Statistics :)

Its Raining in November

Movie Updates

Just now watched Grind House in fast forward mode. Horrible movie and waste of time!!! On the other hand, Telugu movie “Happy Days” which I saw in the afternoon was much more fun and even though I watched only half of it, I enjoyed it. Hard to believe that someone has actually made a movie on the 4 years of engineering. If you could fetch a subtitle version of the movie then do watch it. In fact, I would advice you to watch it with your friends ;)

Decibelz

Indian rock band Parikrama would be performing live in NITIE on 6th November. In fact, Talaash – Authentic Hindi Rock Band, winner of several rock competitions, is also going to perform on the same evening. So for all you music freaks out there… Rest assured… Your appetite for Music is definitely gonna be satitated!!! Prerana 2K9 is ONN!!!

We have grown up now….

I know this is a strange topic to come up with at this time now. But looking at past few months the number of engagements, news about people proposing their loved ones, some bitter break-ups I have seen, makes me realize that how much some of us have grown up.       Viraj, Susmit, Aditya and myself all still behave so much like what we did few years ago when we were in college. We still discuss similar topics, enjoy the same jokes. Just meet at Marine Drive Sea-face and talk, talk and talk. There are not many grown-up topics like what do we want to do in life, what are the big options in life(Oh yea there are bound to be some “Adult” topics though ;-) ). Some times I seriously feel when are we going to be serious with life? God only knows…

F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Update

Hey all, I finally finished first season of “Friends”. In fact half way through second season also. And it is getting better and better. I mean how do you explain viewer like me laughing during scenes of break ups or after someone actually dies in the serial. It is the way they have portrayed even the most serious scenes with a hint of comedy. Looking forward to rest of the seasons!!!

Perana ‘09 is coming up

NITIE’s flagship business event Prerana organzied by the Management students will start next week on 5th November. In fact, this year famous Indian Band “Parikrama” is going to perform at NITIE on 6th. So everyone be there to see the magic of NITIE!!! http://prerana.nitie.net/ http://www.dare2compete.com/events.php?id=388 http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=155394249624

Google Wave

Two days ago I received a preview invitation from Google Wave. Since I was in a hurry, I really could not try it out. But today I came across a nice review of the same. Here you can have a look at it- http://blogs.harvardbusiness.org/trapani/2009/10/google-wave-offers-a-bold-solu.html?cm_mmc=npv-_-TOPICEMAIL-_-OCT_2009-_-TECHNOLOGY2

We won!!!

I really don’t know who was lucky for whom, but three of us Rutuja, KK and I won the Arbit Presentation at JB’s Prayag’09. It was amazing how we pulled it off. To be honest, it was great creativity on the part of KK and Rutuja. Not that I was a “free rider” (a term Rutuja introduced me with earlier in the day), I was able to garner a decent performance of a drunken guy interrupting an Aarati, during the second round!!! All in all, maja aa gayee ;-)

Bikes And Me

Well, I must confess this. I still don’t know how to ride a bicycle. Yep, you read it right. I was never good at. My father tried hard to make me learn it, but I was too scared of falling from cycle that I never really took off from the basic level. I always wanted my father to guide the cycle when I was riding it. Of course that was a more than a decade ago. After those days I never tried learning it(except once, courtesy Jeetu). I actually wonder how I spent my summer and Diwali holidays without books and cycles which is usually what children do (i was more interested in Cricket, Cards and “Monopoly”).      Both of my schools, junior and senior colleges were less than 40 minutes from my home by bus/train so I never felt the need of a bike. In fact, even among my friends we rarely had any discussions about bike. It was only after Jeetu started using bikes in Pune when we really started to “know” about it. Of course, Adit also gave me ride few times when i was in college. I reme

My First Vote

Hey, I just realized that I forgot to write about my first vote. Well, I am eligible for voting since I have been 18 but I did not register myself earlier. The reason was that I was certain I would be shifting back to Grant Road after few years and did not want to take hassles of making the changes in my “voting area”. So when I shifted back, my brother and I registered ourselves before the assembly election.      Being a Government college I was having an off on Tuesday for election, but since we had many lectures before and during our placements, I arranged one lecture at 10am. I had to rush back to my home on Monday evening. I got up early on Tuesday and voted at around 8 o’clock in the morning. The voting happened so quickly, I was expecting long queues, etc. but it was quick and fast. It took hardly 2 minutes. Then I went back to college immediately.      I am looking forward to the results of the assembly elections which will be declared on 22nd October. Lets see who wins…

Time for Diwali Break

Yea, I will be heading back to home for Diwali break of 10 days. Being the CR of the section C (or SecC as we call ourselves), I had the task of convincing Profs to cancel lectures for a week. Currently I am downloading as many movies as possible from our college LAN which I can watch when I come back to NITE after Diwali break as download speed is good when hostel is almost empty( I know my parents won’t allow me to watch so many movies hence planning to watch movies after Diwlai). Ohh and yea, I am yet to finish first season of FRIENDS :D

“Summers” of 09

Well, it has been a week now since I got placed in ICICI Prudential. Honestly it was one of the toughest period of my life. I was never prepared truly for the GDs and PIs. And I paid heavy price for it. The Summer Internship Placement process started with various companies coming for PPTs. We had to fill hell lot of intent forms, decide preferences for companies. These FMCGs are worst of the lot when it comes to summer placements. They have such big forms with questions ranging for one’s biggest achievement to a situation where one faced moral conflict. I was one of the lucky people to be shortlisted for 5 of the top FMCGs on Day zero. Each of them had GD + PI procedure. I tried my best in each GD, but I really could not make an impact in the GD. After all it was not like MBA entrance where GDs carry some percentage of marks, here GDs are used for elimination and I was eliminated in each of them. By the end of the day 0 I had lost 5 golden opportunities. Second day started on worst

Reaction

Honestly, I had no clue what so ever about how my brother was doing in his Mock GREs. I never asked him about it because I felt it might actually pressurize him. Also, he always used to complain to me as how he is not allowed by my parents to study late nights (by late night we mean 12.30, at max 1am) He had to postpone his GRE since he did not have a passport. In fact, he got his passport just 4 days before the new exam date. So when he called me up on Wednesday after his exam - Bunty: Ha Dada, Chuadashe Saath aala score. Mi: Kaaai??? Chaudashe Saath? Bunty: Chaudhashe Saath. Mi: Kai boltos? Chaudhashe Saath!!! Awesome Yaar!! Awesome, Awesome!! Superb yaar!! (By this time I realized that my roomie was staring at me) Mastach score ahe re. Fourteen Sixty!!! Kuthe Ahes Aata? Bunty: Ghari jaat ahe. Kalavale mi ghari. Mi: Thik ahe. Mi sangato Susmit la. Bye. (The intensity of my words cannot be expressed by writing them)

Good News

Before I tell you about my experience during Summer Placements, I would like to inform you all that I got placed in ICICI Prudential on Day 2, Slot 0. On the same day, my brother appeared for GRE and scored 1460!!! Good day for my family :)

Family Matters…

It is only when you start to leave away from your family, you tend to understand their importance in your life. I am not talking about the daily chores, but those moments where an old memory comes to your mind. These are the memories which remind you how much your family loves you….      I will always remember the SMSes my Dad keeps sending me these days (he usually types all caps, I don’t know why), reminding me to drink more water and eat the dry fruits given(yea yea, I am trying to increase my weight and get my body in shape). First time I was actually annoyed by the SMS, but then every time I get such SMS now, I smile and say, “Thanks for caring about me Baba”

Johari Window

I remember Nik sending us email regarding Johari Window a year ago. It was a bouncer for me at that time, and I really didn’t have time to look into my “personality”. Now with Organizational Behaviour as a subject we would be learning about Johari Window (actually it was also there in Communication Skills and came in exam, but nobody really used it for self-improvement). Here is the link to help me find my best attributes - http://kevan.org/johari?name=sidh299

Things happening in last one month

It has been a while since I blogged properly. Here are the things which remember from last one month, not necessarily the chronological sequence: Fresher’s party was really amazing to be honest. and yea as usual I did not booze. It is fun to see other booze though, especially how they behave after the drinks. Party started at 7 and went on till 10.30-11. I had gone for gym earlier for an hour and then 2 hours of dancing was too exhausting for me, so I returned back by 9.30 itself. I hear I missed the really fun - the after effects of boozing!!! (Please note that I have nothing against the boozers unless they misbehave with me) Next day was Ganpati Visarjan!! Got up early and went back home. Susmit, Adi, Amruta, Viraj and Sunil had come in the morning while Ashish, Pradeep and Prabhu came in the afternoon. After Ganpati Visarjan went to Adi’ place in Girgav. I still can’t believe how I we all, IM 16 section C batch went through that gruelling 1 week of assignments and mid t

Exam Time

So my first module exam starts today morning. Don’t ask me that cliche of “Are you prepared?”. Anyway I wanted to write not because of my exam, but because of the US Open semi final results between Nadal and Del Potro. I still cant believe that Del Potro defeated Nadal 6-2, 6-2, 6-2. What a win man!!! Kudos to him. Hope I can create such performance in today’s papers ;)

Life @ NITIE: Day 76

It has become a norm these days to sleep after 2am. Is this what you call MBA Student Syndrome? Anyway it was good to be back to doing what engineers do best – Copy + Paste. Have a case study presentation tomorrow. And Nik thanks for telling me about “Snapshot from Hell”, it helped me during the case study discussion.

Life @ NITIE: Day 75

15 more days to go for the exam and the submissions deadlines have started pouring in. After 75 days in NITIE I can say that I have settled down quite well here. I am still not bored of the mess food and have in fact decided to quit drinking Tea. Progress in the various subjects has been based on my interest. So even though we have made 3 PPTs on marketing, I still don’t have clue about the 5Cs and 4Ps. On the other hand, with hardly any practice of Business Stats, I still like the subjects (This seems to me like the repeat of Mechanics in FE where everyone hated it and I liked it). Ops, POM, IE are also going along nicely. I have had nice experience during Communication Skills lectures with our Prof encouraging everyone to interact more with the class asking people to take initiative to improve the public speaking skills. Last but not the least, it turned out to be boon that our previous Eco Prof left the institute for IIT Indore, as the new teacher much faster than her and much

Movie Reviews

Till now, I have seen 4 movies in NITIE hostel. I liked 2 of them. Here is the list- X-men Origin This one was the best X-Men movie I have seen. The first 3 instalments were more about the overall Mutant community and hence the fight between Humans and Mutants. This one was about the life of Logan, my favourite character in X-Men. Hugh Jackman was at his very best when it came to playing Wolverine. I did not know about Wolverine and Sabor Tooth being half brothers. Even the fact that both of them are immortal as long as they are not beheaded even before Logan’s blood is replaced with the element X, was not known to me. It was little surprising to see Gambit as he didn’t make any appearance in the earlier trilogy. Logic used for removing Logan’s memories was also well thought, as his firing a bullet in his head would create a wound, the brain cells would be regenerated but his memories can’t. If you have not seen the movie, do watch it. Coming up… Euro Trip The Han

Windows 7 Rocks!!!

View Full Album It has been more than 3 weeks since I have been using Windows 7 now. It has been scintillating experience using it. It is not Vista with bug fixes, it is much more than that. It has much better usability as compared to Vista or even XP. The new task bar is much more convenient. I have installed Launchy but I hardly have to use it. The new task bar has many good features such as window and tab preview, pinning the app, jump menu, grouping notification icons. I haven’t much used the start menu as well because of the task bar.      Apart from this Windows 7 has corrected a lot of explorer related issues also. I always had a problem in Vista accessing my favourites in Explorer, the folder pan was too big, the preview pan at the bottom was too large. All this has been corrected with some additional features such as “Libraries”. Here there are sections like “Documents”, “Music”, “Pictures” and “Videos”. These are not just folders. You can add multiple folders to

Naruto Download

I had subscribed to Hathway Cable net, since we still have not received a Landline from MTNL. I had opted for the 2 months 2 GB plan. It turned out that I couldn’t even use 1GB in the first 2 months(Thank god they a carry forward strategy). Now, I have more than 2GBs to download with 15 days in August to go. I have started downloading Naruto episodes from NarutoCentral. Lets see how much do I utilize my bandwidth…

Back to Home

It has been 3 days now since I came back from NITIE. One of the students from our hostel was tested positive for Swine flu and it started a big panic wave across the college. There were rumors of some more people being affected by Swine flu. We, section C of IM-16 batch, had planned our 5 day holiday between 15-19 August, so we had not lost lectures during Raksha Bandhan time. So as was expected many people started fleeing back to your home. People were asked to wear masks while going out in places of public gathering like mess.      It Monday when the news of one of our batch mate having swine flu broke out. On Tuesday there were just 20 of us attending the 2 lectures, and on Wednesday just 8 people appeared for the IE lecture. Since, many people were going to leave by Wednesday, irrespective of whether lectures are cancelled for 13-14th or not, our CR, Sudhakar, decided to call up all the teachers and cancel the lectures. Once the lectures were cancelled, there was no point in

5 things I like about myself

Here are 5 things I like about myself. I am sure there will more things in me which people like and I would request them to reply back in comments section about the same. Sarcastic I don’t talk much usually, but when I do I make every word of it count. I guess sarcasm is in my blood. My dad and mom also used sarcasm to actually “tackle” my mistakes and that has made me learn the “sarcasm” hard way. Usually my sarcasm is used to produce humour without hurting the person targeted. One example of it – we were having a mid term test in VJTI where answer sheets were A4 size journal papers. I think someone gave Naresh only 1-2 sheets, so he asked me to give more papers. I was really irritated by this, as he was as it is going to copy someone else’s paper. My reply was, “इतके पेपर्स कशाला हवे आहेत? तुला काय ग्रन्थ लिहायचा आहे का?” (Meaning – Why do you need so many? Are you going to write a novel?)(More could be found on Sankalp’s blog) Keeping friends I take a lot of time to

Whoa!!!

I can’t believe this. My name on gnome website!!! Last year, I decided to take part in gnome translation project, I worked with Sandeep Shedmake (who is the person in charge of Marathi Translation) on Bug Buddy. I did my best in the 1 month I worked, because afterwards I had to give time to office work and CAT stuff. All in all, it was nice experience working on it.      Today, I tried searching my name on Google. As expected the blogs on which I had left my comments appeared first and then on 2nd page I found this link: http://www.gnome.org/~shaunm/pulse/web/files/l10n/i18n/svn.gnome.org/bug-buddy/po/gnome-2-24/mr.po   Proud to be associated with Open source, may be not as a coder but at least as a translator!!!

Theme Update….

So I am not as bad HTML coder as I thought myself to be. It has been really joyful changing the blogger theme. I have always been striving for more, especially when I find myself being creative about something. The initial theme update was facilitated by the original Wordpress theme. But after that I have been using my creativity to make the blog visually more appealing. Of course, I had been lucky enough to get feedback from my friends, like the one suggested by Vinay, to use simpler fonts (I was using Tekton and Bradley ITC fonts earlier).      I still feel that I can improve it, especially the Header image. Even though many have told me that they liked Header image, I always wanted to have Header image with most of friends in it. But I have not been able to conjure up such an image!! Need to be more creative on that front.

Countdown begins

I took Ops test today. It was not really as difficult as people were making it to be. In fact, I happen to complete the paper 15 minutes before the time and Prof actually went through my answer sheet and looked impressed. I was surprised to find that people wanted 10 min extension. When I submitted the paper after verifying all the answers, Prof told me that I could solve the optional problem also in the remaining time. After the test I found a very funny thing, half of the class didn’t read the instructions and tried solving all the questions. No wonder they wanted extra time!!!      Lectures for today are over. We have holidays starting from 15th till 19th August. So four more days of lectures before I head for home…

Mid-term exam

Tomorrow I have my first mid term exam… By the way, I just remembered some work pending, I had been assigned a “tag”, which I need to complete. I will start working on it from tomorrow.

One of The Best Party Ever…

What an evening!!!! Thank you Aditya, Vikram and Susmit for the dinner. I had an awesome time with you all!!!

Mandi ‘09

Background Mandi is unique exercise in NITIE where all the students of NITIE junior batch go to Mumbai Streets to sell educational toys. The toys are made by an NGO called “Navnirmiti” . The money collected from this exercise is given to the NGO. This allows the students to interact with normal people who are their customers, convince them to buy the product. The tag line of the event is Socho Becho Becho Seekho Seekho Socho Before The Mandi Day I decided to team up with Shiwam. Some of us from section C decided to go together. Since I was the only Mumbaikar in the group, I was asked about the places to visit. I thought Dadar station, Shivaji Park, Lower Parel and Phoenix mills compound was a good area to sell the stuff. The day before Mandi we got total 20 toys – 3 Big Jodos, 7 small Jodos, 2 Rangometry kits and 8 Tangrams. We also got Mandi T-shirts who was designed by a group in my batch who have made start up company in T-shirt design (smart people aint they? Ev

Audio – Visual Exercise

I had my audio-visual exercise today. In communication skills subject each of the student has to speak on the topic of his choice for around 5 minutes. I was given Monday’s slot of 3pm. Initially I wanted to talk about some incident in my life, but then I had given an “observatory” speech already during CS lecture. I did not want to repeat the flow. So I thought of speaking on sub-prime crisis. I had given a talk on the same last year when I was in Netcore. I got some information on the topic from Wikipedia. Problem was remembering the whole stuff. Just before the presentation I got the printout of the doc and started reciting it. When I reached the audio-visual cell of NITIE, Shruti was talking in front of the camera. Then Shuchita started her speech on twitter. At that time I realized that instead of talking about Sub-prime crisis by looking the paper, I could actually talk passionately about some software/web service. And what can be better than Google Reader!!! I decided on th

Saturday Chronicles

It was one of those amazing evenings I ever had. I mean, how many times does it happen that your 2 groups of best friends call you at the same place, same day, same time. It happened with me last Saturday. Kanchan, who is my classmate from Chikitsak has come back from Italy, so she wanted to meet her Chikitsak friends. Since most of the people are free on Saturday evening, she told us to meet opposite Aquarium at the sea face (we call it Katta).      During the same period, my old school’s friends (from Sundatta High School) were planning a small get-together. Nitin had contacted many of my classmates to come to Marine Drive sea face. He called me and told me the same date and time as Kanchan had told me. He really wanted to meet everyone. I could make out from his voice, he was so much excited. Since, it would have looked really bad to say NO to any of the two groups, I decided to meet them one by one, may be give half an hour to old school group and rest of the time I was goin

Committee Selection

Last month committee selection took place in my college (such as AlumCom, PlaceCom, B-Gyan). Being active in such during my college days, it was obvious for me to apply for such committees. But this time I decided not to. Reason? There are few which are as follows: Many of the committees do the same job under different name. For e.g AlumCom brings an alumni of NITIE who can guide us, brief us about his management experience. Now even Samiksha and B-Gyan are doing the same. Few weeks a ago we had Mr. Ashwin Jacob from KPMG brought by B-Gyan, previous to that Mr. Sunil Shidwalker from Delloitte (Whenever I hear/read this name, I keep wondering why I had skipped this Biggie in my campus placements) had come. Obviously these committees are doing great job but why have 12+ people in each committee where they are more or less achieving the same purpose (exceptions Impact, PlaceCom and Prerana) Now the most important reason. In my Ruparel days I was busy with studies. I regretted not

Carom

After, I don’t know how many years I finally won a game of Carom. And that too against someone like Jitendra. Aditya, Viraj and Nik always made a fun of my style. No doubt they are better players than me, but I seemed to have lost interest in winning a Carom game, as I would assume that I am going to lose against them. P. S.: I am one of the very few people who are proper “right handed” but play Carom left handed. Most people are surprised by this fact. Are you?

Irony

A year ago I had gone to Jeetu’s home in Pimpri along with my friends. I had told Jeetu about Ubuntu a lot times previously, so he was curious to see how Ubuntu really works. I had brought Ubuntu CD which we used to install Ubuntu on his Sony Laptop. Unfortunately, since used the Wubi installer which was in its early stages of development, his Vista got corrupted. Obviously he was pissed off with this, I thought he would never again try Ubuntu.      One year down the line since that incident, there is a total contrast in the way we are using our laptops. Jeetu has installed Ubuntu on his Laptop on his own and since then been using Ubuntu instead of Vista. On the other hand, even though I had installed Ubuntu on my laptop, I hardly used it (one of the reasons being lack of connectivity in NITIE which means I won’t be able to download and install software from net for Ubuntu). In fact, for past one month, I have become a proper Windows user with Vista on my laptop and XP- SP3 on m

Mastishk Interview

On last Wednesday and Thursday, I had my first forum interview. I had earlier skipped committees and wanted to join only those forums where my skills would be utilized properly. Mastishk was one of them. I had earlier worked on an online gaming contest, i.e. VJTI’s very own Virtual Stock Market.      First interview was more technical, was much better than the second one. The second wasn’t bad actually. Just that I could not answer some “why?”. For e.g. “Why you didn’t apply for committees?”. They even tried to stress interview me, by telling me that I wont be able to study in August as I would be coding for Mastishk and might have to miss quizzes in the classes (implying zero in class test). I was really confused at that moment. But hey, I am a Naruto fan, and even I don’t know when to give up. I kept saying that I would be able to manage it. They even said that it might affect my summer internship. Finally, at the end of the interview they clarified that they were lying about

Naruto and Mythology

What I like about Naruto is that the writers always come up with something new and interesting. Recently, I was going through wiki of Naruto where I found that most of the characters and their names have references to the Japanese mythology. The thing which amazed me was the Power of Mangekyo Sharingan. The power of Sharingan, the eyes possessed by the almost extinct clan of Uchihas(Sasuke Uchiha being the anti hero of the series), is related to the Mythology. There is ancient Myth that when Izanagi a deity, comes out of underworld, he washes his face which gives birth to 3 gods – Amaterasu (the Sun goddess) from his left eye, Tsukuyomi(the moon god) from his right eye and Susanoo (storm god)from his nose. Now, in Naruto, the possessor of Mangekyo Sharingan receives these 3 gods’ power – Tsukoyomi, a genjutsu where the victim is stuck in an imaginary world in night under the moon, Amaterasu – highest form of fire which makes it burn anything, and Susanu – creates a spiritual being whi

VJComps is Back….

What I am talking about is our Google group. We have long tradition of big group conversations which usually divert from the main topic in first 5-10 replies itself. There will be one guy or girl who comes up with a totally funny reply.      For some period now these discussions had stopped because people got busy with their post grads, jobs, etc. I was really missing those threads where you would have either Anup/ Gabaru or KK being targeted. But I am really happy to say we are back!!!.      Maddy, Sidscope mi barobar bolalo na???

Idea

This one was the “WHOA!!!” moment of my life. On Saturday, mine was the only section to have lectures. We were informed at the end of lecture that a session was organized by Prof. Prasad where a NITIE alumni was going to come to guide us about the NITIE’s special project- “Hamara Dhanda”. Let me first tell you about “Hamara Dhanda”. NITIE has a unique way of identifying entrepreneurial abilities in students. A group of 4-5 students have to form a company and continue to run it successfully. Aim is to produce at least 3-4 ideas which are new and can be taken forward by experienced people once the group passes out. It gives the students exposure to company internals, how it is built, the actual implementation of the theories learnt in the lectures. Secondly, I would like mention the way I organize my music collection. I have around 8+GB of music ( 99% Hindi) which I have divided into multiple folders of around 500-600 MB each. The reason for selecting 500-600MB is that it should fit in

Wimbledon Final

Whoa!!! What a match!! I am really proud to have watched the last set of yesterday’s Wimbledon Final. Initially when I came to know that Roger was pitted against Roddick in the final, I thought it would be a piece of cake for the swiss master. But Andy played the best tennis of his life. He not only dragged the match into 5 sets, but also took final set to 14-16. In fact, Federer was not able break the booming Roddick serve till the last game. In fact, it basically came down to who loses his serve. Federer was coming up with Aces when he needed and Roddick was making those unplayable body serves. To be honest, Roddick has improved a lot in last few months. He even improved his record in French Open last month. He was regarded as a one dimensional player with a great serve. Even though I am a great fan of Federer, it felt a little sad to see Andy lose like that. He wasted 4 set points in second set. He not broken in the whole match till the deciding game. Hopefully, as Roger said, And

Naruto And Harry Potter

Naruto and Harry Potter!!!! What can be connected between them? Well, I have been great fan of both the series. Have you observed the biggest similarity between the two? Naruto and Harry are both orphans, that too because an evil attacked their homes, and one of their parents sacrificed so that the kid will live on. Harry’s mother sacrifices herself whereas Naruto’s father “The  4th Hokage”, often called as “The 4th”, uses the “Death Reaper Jutsu”, a forbidden jutsu which rips his soul from his body into Death Gods container forever. Take it a little further, both have a part of the evil inside them. Harry is the 7th Horcrux of Voldermort, whereas a part of the Nine Tailed Fox’s soul is intentionally stored inside Nartuo by The 4th. Both get special powers because of this. Harry is a parcel tongue whereas Naruto has 2 levels of chakra and can perform “Multi-shadow clone jutsu”, a forbidden jutsu because of its high level of Chkra consumption. Potter series has magic and spel

Naruto

The story of Naruto manga is taking a decisive turn now. It has been more than 6 months now since I started reading Naruto manga. Sasuke is heading to the 5 Kages meeting, and I expect he will face off with Naruto there. As usual the story will move slower than what readers want. I also eager to see the “Pain Arc” in the Animated form- basically the 6 paths of Pain, his Raningan, and his various abilities, and obviously his fight with Naruto. Assignment

Just started writing Industrial Engineering where I have to write about a company. Need to write minimum 20 pages (one side). Lets see how much time it takes. By the way, an ultimate co-incidence happened today. I will blog about it tomorrow. Now, I am a firm believer of “The Secret”.

Dialogue

This is my group's patent dialogue, especially used against Jeetu. We say this when someone takes a non-veg meaning of a phrase. "दुर्योधनाच्या मनात नेहमी वाईट विचारच येतात."

Don't Acquaint With Fools

I can’t believe that someone actually saying that I am jealous of him. A person whom I tried helping when others were making a joke of him, today says that I am jealous of his so called success. Anyway, I never wanted to be friend with him, so doesn’t matter much in the long term. I knew he would be of no use, but never knew he would backfire on me like that. I will never forgive him for what he said. And mind it, I have a very good long term memory... Update : After a little introspection, few comments from my friends and an honest opinion from Susmit, have made me retract some of the lines I said in anger. As they said, silence is the best answers in this situation and there won't be any more discussion on this issue from my side.

Life @ NITIE: Day 9

Yesterday evening the TOPA group of NITIE (Theater of Performing Arts) put up a list of groups. Each was given a topic on which they had to perform a skit. Mine was the first group on the first day (as I told my friends, “do come for the first day, first show”). Our topic was “Apka Rakho Aage”. In fact, all the topics were spicy. Here is the list: Andheri Raat mein, Diya tere Hath Mein Hath Hata Waha Se Do Boond Zindagi ki Ek Rupye Mein do Ki Lo Phati Chhatri Hua Dhamaka Dheeru Bhai Ka sapana, Sab ke Hath Mein Apana Karo Lekin Dhyan Se Doodh Piyo Mast Jiyo Karo Jyada Ka irada Jahan Teri Yeh Nazar Hai, Waha sab ki Nazar hai Maal Asli Hai Ek Tupakati Bund aapki zindagi badal sakti hai Aadmi Hun Admi Se Pyar Karata Hoon Paro…. Main aa Raha Hoon Tu hut, Main Lagoon Ganda hai par dhanda hai yeh Din Mein Dangal, Raat Mein Mangal Ek ke Sath do do, ek hame bhi de do So when I saw the topics, I knew it was going to be an interesting display creativity from NT

Life @ NITIE: Day 8

Since our seniors' summer project presentations are going on, many of the professors are busy. So today also we had one lecture cancled. In fact, even the instructor for “Principal of Organization and Management” has said that he will busy tomorrow with the presentations. Hence one more off lecture tomorrow. It feels nice intially when you don’t have any lecture, but at the end of the course the teachers have to take 24 sessions(for 4 credit subjects), so there would be extra lectures at the end of the trimetser.

Life @ NITIE: Day 7

Damn it.. I had no lectures today. We had two lectures mentioned in the time table but one was reschudled to yestreday. The whole class was waiting for the Communication skills prof for ten minutes. But later on we found that he was on leave. Had I come to know this earlier I would have visited my home on tuesday. Anyway, looking forward to tomorrows lectures. Bye.
