My Favorite Song

I always loved marathi songs. Be it the usual film songs, or the ever spiritual bhakitgeet. I am great fan of Vasant Bahar (the collection songs by Vasant Desai, Vasnt Prabhu and Vasant Deshpande). But all these songs were recorded in older times, before the 80s. In fact there were not many songs from the 90s which were really great. The emphasis was more on Comedy and the music paid for this. In fact there were songs which were "combo" songs containing the marathi versions of many popular hindi songs.

Post Shwas era however has been much more encouraging. There were some amazing numbers like Radha hi Bawari, Man Udhan Varyache, Malhar vari and more. The song which I am going to mention here was an special addition  to the "Aga Bai Arechya.." audio CD. It was got the modern touch which I think is essential for Marathi songs if they really want to compete against the Hindi or Punjabi songs.  Sung by Swapnil Bandodkar, this one is at the top of my favorite songs list....

Galavar khali dolyat dhundi

Othavari khule lali gulabachi

Khadhi kothe kasa tula saang bhetu

Vata pahato me eka isharyachi

Jau nako dur tu ashi ye samor tu mazha rang tu ghe tuzha rang mala de...

Galavar khali dolyat dhundi

Othavari khule lali gulabachi
Khadhi kothe kasa tula saang bhetu

Vata pahato me yeka isharyachi

Jau nako dur tu ashi ye samor tu mazha rang tu ghe tuzha rang mala de...
I love you..., I love you..., I love you...

Konataha mausam mast rangacha... ha

Tuzya save mazya jivani aala....

Sune sune hote kiti mann majhe....

Aaj tech wate dhunda madhushala

Jaganyachi maj aata kalate maja.....

Nahi me kunacha aahe tujha

Jaganyachi maj aata kalate maja.....

Nahi me kunacha aahe tujha...

Sangato me khare khare tujhya sathi jeev jhure man majhe tharare

Kadhi tujhya pudhe pudhe kadhi tuzya mage mage karato me ishare

Jau nako dur tu...

Jau nako dur tu ashi ye samor tu maza rang tu ghe tujha rang mala de....

Tujhya papanyachya sawali khali........

Mala jindagi gheuni aali

Tuzya chahulichi dhunda aanand de....

Antaras mazya cheduni gele

Jaganyachi maj aata yei nasha

Tu majhe jeevan tu majhi disha

Aata tari majhya vari kar tujhi jadugiri hur hur ka jeevala

Bola aata kahi tari bheta aata kothe tari kasala ha abola

Hey jau nako dur tu

Jau nako dur tu ashiye samor tu majha rang tu ghe tujha rang mala de...

Gala var khali dolat dhundi

Othavari khule lali gulabachi

Khadhi kothe kasa tula saang bhetu

Vata pahato me eka isharyachi

Jau nako dur tu ashiye samor tu majha rang tu ghe tujha rang mala de...
I love you, I love you..

Sawai Ekankika’ 2013

So this year I completed a hat trick of watching the finals of Sawai . Like the previous 2 occasions, this too was a great experience. Most of the plays were good and the overall performance level was better than that of the 2012 finals. Most of the plays were based social issues like parenting, cynicism among the middle class, etc. Unlike the previous finals, not a single one was of romantic/love genre. Here is the list of finalists- Nat S. M. R. T. We missed this one as we were late. But Viraj's father told us, this was similar to the play " Natasamrat " but a modern version. Emotional Atyachar This was a story of an employee in an e-CRM firm which is hired by clients so that someone can communicate with their family. These clients are too "busy" with their work that they don't have time to speak with their wife/kids/parents. The agent/employee E26 slowly starts getting emotionally attached with his clients' families. Finally, when he is about t...
