On Demand

Its been so long since I blogged last time that even my browser history does not have my own blogger link now.

Well, this post is specifically dedicated to 2 of my friends. One who on her FB post forgot to mention me in asking fellow bloggers to start blogging again, but remembered me after hitting the submit button ;)  Thanks  Rutuja for asking me to come out of hibernation :) 

The other one is the person who made the most fun of my "self centered" writing when I was writing the blog (and making fun/exposing other friends), suggested me that I could use my blog style of writing to write a speech about a dear friend of ours. The speech would talk about the friend's good/bad qualities, his past "quotes" ("Papad tar papad"), memories related to him. We would present it at the time of his engagement to his bride to be. Now, since I have stopped writing the blog in 2013, I was not sure how I would approach the whole thing. So I have decided that I will start blogging again, at least to gain some momentum again. I am a man of practice, unless I practice, I lose all my skills. 

So here it begins.... again...

My Favorite Song

I always loved marathi songs. Be it the usual film songs, or the ever spiritual bhakitgeet. I am great fan of Vasant Bahar (the collection songs by Vasant Desai, Vasnt Prabhu and Vasant Deshpande). But all these songs were recorded in older times, before the 80s. In fact there were not many songs from the 90s which were really great. The emphasis was more on Comedy and the music paid for this. In fact there were songs which were "combo" songs containing the marathi versions of many popular hindi songs. Post Shwas era however has been much more encouraging. There were some amazing numbers like Radha hi Bawari, Man Udhan Varyache, Malhar vari and more. The song which I am going to mention here was an special addition  to the "Aga Bai Arechya.." audio CD. It was got the modern touch which I think is essential for Marathi songs if they really want to compete against the Hindi or Punjabi songs.  Sung by Swapnil Bandodkar, this one is at the top of my favorite songs list
