LOL

This incident happened in Section B of my my batch. Since I have not taken permission of the people involved, I would call them by code. During their HRM lecture, professor was taking attendance. L wanted to give proxy for P. So when Sir called P’s name L raised his hand. Somehow Sir noticed something fishy. Here is the conversation after that -

Sir: For how many lectures have you been present?

L:Ummmmm…

Sir: Ok. I will rephrase the question for you. How many lectures have you missed?

L: (How would I know, how many lectures P has missed. He usually doesn’t attend lectures. So..) I guess 3-4 lectures…

Sir: My dear, according to this attendance sheet, you have attended all the lectures!!!!

Can you imagine L’s face after this?

I guess it is not easy to fool an HR prof. :)

I'm curious to know what happened when L's name was called. Btw how strict is the attendance?

Well, as far as my information, from next letcure onwards L has to pretend to be P :) and someone else has to mark his attendance.

Attendance is not strict, though there is tht obvious scare of 75% cutoff. But no teacher exercises tht right (just like VJTI). Proxies in the other section rampant but my section being smaller it is usually difficult to do so, unless the teacher is not serious abt attendance. There are also cases where guest faculty ask me to mark attendance on the sheet which means I have to mark everyone present!!!

My Favorite Song

I always loved marathi songs. Be it the usual film songs, or the ever spiritual bhakitgeet. I am great fan of Vasant Bahar (the collection songs by Vasant Desai, Vasnt Prabhu and Vasant Deshpande). But all these songs were recorded in older times, before the 80s. In fact there were not many songs from the 90s which were really great. The emphasis was more on Comedy and the music paid for this. In fact there were songs which were "combo" songs containing the marathi versions of many popular hindi songs. Post Shwas era however has been much more encouraging. There were some amazing numbers like Radha hi Bawari, Man Udhan Varyache, Malhar vari and more. The song which I am going to mention here was an special addition  to the "Aga Bai Arechya.." audio CD. It was got the modern touch which I think is essential for Marathi songs if they really want to compete against the Hindi or Punjabi songs.  Sung by Swapnil Bandodkar, this one is at the top of my favorite songs list
