Dirty Politics

Its been a complete mess in Pakistan with the emergency imposed. As an Indian if you think that you live in better place, then think again. Look at the “state” of Karnataka. I mean, the way BJP and JD(S) have been functioning for last 2 months or so, its really a shameful chapter in Indian democracy.

If you still what I am talking about then listen to this. JD(S) cheif Deve Gowda had established a coalition govertment with Congress 3 years ago. But 12 months in to power, his son decided that they had enough of secular agenda and went to BJP. Now, initially Gowda opposed this move, but later retracted his statements saying it is for the betterment of Karnataka. They had a power sharing “agreement” with BJP, which meant first the Janata Dal will have its CM for 18 months and for next 18 months BJP. Everything was going along nicely until, the time to handover the pwoer to BJP came closer.

Gowda father and son accused BJP of trying to kill them and refused tranfer power. Now, in such a situation any party with self respect would have taken out the support. But no. BJP waited. Their leaders were telling everyone, that the transfer will take place, they have faith in JD(S). Finally, when they realized the truth, the assembly had to be dissolved. Well, I thought the chapter is over now and new phase of election will determine the destiny of these pity parties. But little do I know about politics.............

BJP and JD(S) who accusing each other of treachery came together for one more time, and requested Karnataka Governor to revise his orders, so that BJP can form its government with the support of JD(S). The Governor obliged and Yeddiyurappa, the BJP leader became the first BJP CM in south India. But, yes but, only for 8 days. The new agreement between BJP and JD(S) was not enough for the 2 parties to be glued for next 17 months. JD(S) took out its support and rest is a part of India's hall of shame.

My Favorite Song

I always loved marathi songs. Be it the usual film songs, or the ever spiritual bhakitgeet. I am great fan of Vasant Bahar (the collection songs by Vasant Desai, Vasnt Prabhu and Vasant Deshpande). But all these songs were recorded in older times, before the 80s. In fact there were not many songs from the 90s which were really great. The emphasis was more on Comedy and the music paid for this. In fact there were songs which were "combo" songs containing the marathi versions of many popular hindi songs. Post Shwas era however has been much more encouraging. There were some amazing numbers like Radha hi Bawari, Man Udhan Varyache, Malhar vari and more. The song which I am going to mention here was an special addition  to the "Aga Bai Arechya.." audio CD. It was got the modern touch which I think is essential for Marathi songs if they really want to compete against the Hindi or Punjabi songs.  Sung by Swapnil Bandodkar, this one is at the top of my favorite songs list
