The watch on the left is the same watch which I have been using for past 9 years. It was gifted to me by my school teachers after the SSC results. Yesterday when I went to change the batteries of the watch at Titan showroom, the guy advised me to change the body of the watch. I asked him if it was possible to restore the gold platting. He then explained to me that by changing the “body” he meant changing everything except belts. Well, 2 things struck my mind -
- why would I pay Rs. 450 for the body if I could add few hundreds more and get a new watch?
- Secondly, and most importantly, if the body is replaced then that would mean that the whole watch is replaced after it was given to me. I have already changed the belt 4 times now and if I change the “body”, it will cease to represent what it was meant to be.
