NITIE Meet

Last Sunday we had our NITIE meet. All the Mumbai people were invited by the Impact team of NITIE at the NITIE campus. Last time I went to NITIE it took me around 2 hours to reach. So this time I left my home at 3 thinking that it would take me 5 o’clock to reach the spot. It turned out that I boarded the train and bus at the correct time and reached there at 4:30pm, half an hour before the stipulated time.

I called up Adiya Narayanan’s (my senior). He asked me to come to the Pond which is in the middle of NITIE, but since I had reached there, he asked me to come to his Hostel. After I went to his room, 2-3 more guys from my batch came. Each of introduced ourselves to others. It was nice to see some more people from VJTI. After the number people grew more than the room’s capacity (!!), we went to the central pond. Slowly more people started coming, and till 5:30pm we were around 15 people.

The seniors gave us some information about the placements, summers, etc. They told us about the various committees, groups, the selection procedure. It was nice to hear that NITIE had 100% placements this year. After a QA round we split into 2 groups and Aditya showed us the NITIE campus. It was an amazing feeling looking from the Hostel terrace towards the IIT. After 8pm I decided to leave, after all there was an IPL final to watch.

My term is going to start from 18th of June. Initially there will be an induction program for 3 days and from 22nd the lectures would start. Lets see how everything works out :)

Marathi Manoos

I read the following article in Mint yesterday. http://www.livemint.com/Articles/2010/02/19213129/The-Thackerays8217-primitiv.html I was shocked by the bias shown by the author against the Marathis. I completely agreed with him when he talks about Sena. Both Shivsena and MNS have done more damage to Marathis than they have helped. Their methods have been of violence and oppression. May it be Shiv Sena’s reaction to racists attacks in Australia or the MNIK controversy, common man is the one who usually suffers. But the author then checks the list of 30 companies in BSE and 50 in NSE, to prove that there are no Marathi person “owning” a company and goes on to say - “ The Mumbai Marathi, better at renaming things than building something himself”.
